Kathleen Ross-Kidder, Ph.D. maintains a private psychotherapy and psychological assessment practice specializing in learning disabilities, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Asperger’s Syndrome & ASD disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and single-parenting issues. She works with children, adolescents, their parents, and adults who struggle to achieve success.
Dr. Ross-Kidder is a Virginia licensed school psychologist who specializes in creating effective school, student, home interactions to foster success. With over 25 years of teaching experience as faculty in the Department of Psychology at The George Washington University and George Mason University, she has worked with experts in the fields of psychology and education. This knowledge enhances her clinical skills. Additional supervised training and work experiences include Children's National Medical Center; Fairfax County Public Schools, 12 years with psychiatrists specializing in child and adolescent psychopatholgies, with with other psychologists in schools, private practice and in her own private practice, originally in Vienna, Va but now located in Culpeper, Va.
Consulting with national agencies including the GED, NIFL,and WETA of the PBS system, Dr. Ross-Kidder helped formulate national policies on the needs of those with learning disabilities (LD) and ADHD. She co-wrote and co-trained the disability awareness program for the General Equivalency Degree (GED), Accommodating Accommodations, and served as a consultant reviewing the effectiveness of the Bridges to Practice Training Model of the National Institute for Literacy (NIFL).She is also a former director of LDOnline, and more recently she worked as a psychologist in a residential psychiatric treatment program for children with severe behavioral and emotional disturbances due to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
